Privacy Policy

Your privacy and the security of your data are important to us. This privacy policy describes the types of information that are or may be collected, used, or shared by the Edgward application when you use it, as well as the rights you have over your personal data.

If you have any questions about this policy or about how we handle your personal data, or if you wish to withdraw a consent you have given, please contact us using the details provided at the end of this document.

Definitions

The Edgward application is operated by DBA Solutions Sàrl, rue des Bains 35, 1205 Geneva, Switzerland (referred to as "We", "Our", or "Us"). Under applicable data protection law, DBA Solutions Sàrl is the data controller of your personal data. As a user of this service, you are a "User" or "You". A "third-party provider" or "external service" refers to any external service or integration we rely on to operate the application.

Data We Collect

When you use the Edgward application, we may collect:

  • Technical and device data: platform type (iOS or Android), application language, device identifiers, and push notification tokens. Your IP address may appear in the technical logs generated when you use the service.
  • Geolocation data: the location of the places you save (for example your home or a site to monitor), which is necessary for the application's essential security and alert features.
  • Account and contact data: name, email address, phone number, as well as any other personal data you provide when registering for or using the application.
  • Security data relating to your places and contacts: addresses, access instructions and codes, alarm codes, information about the people present and, where applicable, identity document data. This sensitive data is stored in encrypted form.

This information is necessary to operate and secure the application, optimize the service, and provide you with the features you request.

Where the GDPR applies to you, we process your personal data on the following legal bases:

  • Performance of a contract: to provide the application and the features you have requested.
  • Consent: for example, for geolocation or optional communications. You can withdraw your consent at any time.
  • Legal obligation: to comply with the accounting, tax, and other legal obligations applicable to us in Switzerland.
  • Legitimate interests: to secure, maintain, and improve the service, and to prevent fraud and abuse.

Where Swiss data protection law (the Federal Act on Data Protection, FADP / revFADP) applies, we process your data in accordance with the principles of lawfulness, good faith, proportionality, and purpose limitation.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to operate and provide the application's security and alert features, create and manage your account, respond to your requests, ensure the security and integrity of the service, comply with our legal obligations, and improve the application.

Sharing Your Personal Information

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personally identifiable information to third parties.

We may share your personal data only where necessary:

  • with service providers acting on our behalf, who are required to process the data only according to our instructions, in particular for:
    • hosting and file storage;
    • payment processing and subscription management;
    • geolocation and mapping services;
    • communications (push notifications, sending emails);
    • authentication through third-party providers (sign-in via Apple or Google);
    • error and technical incident tracking in order to diagnose and fix application malfunctions;
  • where required by law, at the request of a competent authority, or to protect our rights and the safety of users.

We may also collect and use aggregated or anonymized information (which can no longer identify you) in order to analyze and improve the service. Such information is not subject to the restrictions of this policy.

International Data Transfers

Some of our service providers may process your data outside Switzerland or the European Economic Area, including in countries that do not necessarily offer an equivalent level of data protection. Where this is the case, we put appropriate safeguards in place (such as standard contractual clauses or transfers to countries recognized as providing adequate protection) to protect your data. Please contact us if you would like more information about these safeguards.

Data Retention

We retain your personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy:

  • For as long as your account is active, in order to provide you with the service.
  • When you delete your account: your personal data is permanently deleted, subject to the legal retention obligations below (see "Account Deletion").
  • To comply with legal obligations: certain data (for example billing and transaction records) must be retained for up to 10 years under Swiss accounting law (art. 958f of the Swiss Code of Obligations), even after your account is deleted.

When retention is no longer required, your personal data is permanently deleted or irreversibly anonymized.

Account Deletion

You can request the deletion of your data at any time.

Deleting your account in the application. You can delete your account directly from the Edgward application. When you do so, your account and the associated personal data are permanently deleted, except for data we are legally required to retain (see "Data Retention"). This action is irreversible.

Deletion request by email. You can also request the deletion of your personal data by writing to us at info@edgward.ch — for example if you no longer have access to your account. We will erase all of your personal data, except where we are legally required to retain certain information, and will respond within the timeframes provided by applicable law.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you have the following rights over your personal data:

  • Access: to know what personal data we hold about you and how it is processed.
  • Rectification: to have inaccurate or incomplete data corrected or updated.
  • Erasure ("right to be forgotten"): to have your personal data deleted (see "Account Deletion").
  • Restriction and objection: to restrict or object to certain processing.
  • Data portability: to receive your data in a structured, commonly used format.
  • Withdrawal of consent: where processing is based on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time, without affecting processing carried out before the withdrawal.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority — in Switzerland, the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), and in the European Union, your local data protection authority.

Information Security

We take appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. The most sensitive data (such as access codes, alarm codes, and identity document data) is stored in encrypted form. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Data Protection in Switzerland (FADP / revFADP)

As we are established in Switzerland, our processing of personal data is subject to the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP / revFADP). You have the rights described in the "Your Rights" section above, and you can contact the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) if you believe your rights have not been respected.

General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, the GDPR applies to the processing of your personal data, and DBA Solutions Sàrl acts as the data controller. You have the rights set out in the "Your Rights" section. Please contact us if you have any questions about your rights under the GDPR.

Email and Phone Communication

We may communicate with you by email or phone in response to your inquiries or to send you service-related announcements. If you no longer wish to receive optional updates, you can opt out at any time by following the instructions included in each communication.

The Edgward application may contain links to third-party services that are not operated by us. Please review the privacy policy of each third-party service before submitting any personal information.

Business Transfers

In the event that DBA Solutions Sàrl, or substantially all of its assets, is acquired, your personal information may be among the assets transferred. In such a case, your data will continue to be protected in accordance with this privacy policy, and you will be informed of any material changes.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will post any changes on this page and update the "Last updated" date below. If the changes are material, we will notify you through the application or by email. Your continued use of the application after the changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
